Pricing Strategy Review: Give Your Bid Team the Reasoning Behind the Price

Pricing Strategy Review is now live for Pricer Max customers.

It reads your pricing model in Pricer and writes up the strategy behind the numbers: the assumptions, the cost drivers, and how the price positions you against the field. Capture, BD, and proposal teams read the rationale inside GovDash without opening the workbook. The sensitive rate build stays protected.

Pricer explains the pricing; your team writes the response around it.

What is it?

Pricing Strategy Review is a dashboard in Pricer that turns your pricing inputs into plain-language summaries the rest of your team can use. Three things come out of it:

  • Assumptions. The escalation, staffing, and level-of-effort choices the model is built on.
  • Cost drivers. What is moving the total, and which elements carry the most weight.
  • Competitive positioning. How the price sits against the field.

Those summaries sit on the same data layer as the rest of the pursuit, so capture, BD, and proposal reference them in the bid they are already working in.

Why we built this

On most GovCon teams, pricing lives alone. The person building the rate knows exactly why every number landed where it did. The capture lead, the BD manager, and the proposal writer see a final figure and take it on faith. When an evaluator asks how price connects to approach under Sections L and M, the proposal writer is reconstructing logic they were never given.

Getting that logic usually costs a meeting, an email thread, or a call to the pricing lead in the last 48 hours before submission. The information exists. It has been locked inside one person's workbook, because that workbook holds rate detail the team cannot circulate.

Pricing Strategy Review separates the reasoning from the rate build. The reasoning gets shared. The model stays where it belongs.

Every module sits on one data layer, so price and proposal are built on the same record from capture through submission.

What you can do with it

Pricing leads: publish the strategy behind a bid once instead of explaining it five times. Pricer reads what you already built, so there is no second document to maintain and no rate detail to scrub before you share it.

Capture and BD: walk into a gate review or a pricing review with the rationale in hand. When a teammate asks why the labor mix looks the way it does, the answer is in the pursuit record.

Proposal: write a price narrative and cost volume that track the strategy the model was built on. Reference the assumptions directly when a solicitation asks you to connect price to technical approach.

You stay in control

Summaries are non-sensitive by design. Wrap rates, indirect detail, and the underlying build stay in the model, visible to the people who already have access to it. Pricing leads decide what the rest of the team sees. [FLAG: confirm exact permission and redaction behavior with Evan before publishing. FAQs

What does "non-sensitive" mean here?

The summaries describe the reasoning: what the price assumes, what is driving cost, and how the bid is positioned. They do not carry the rate build. [FLAG: confirm the exact line between what is summarized and what is withheld.]

How is this different from a price narrative we write ourselves?

A price narrative is written once, by hand, usually late. Pricing Strategy Review reads the model as it stands, so the rationale the team is working from matches the numbers in the workbook. You still write the narrative; you are writing it from the strategy instead of reverse-engineering it.

Is this available on Pricer, or only Pricer Max?

Pricer Max. It is in beta for Pricer Max customers today.

Does it change anything in my model?

No. Pricing Strategy Review reads your pricing inputs. The model is yours to edit.
